WEBVTT

00:00:01.243 --> 00:00:04.310
Hey everyone, welcome back to Private Club Radio.

00:00:04.310 --> 00:00:09.310
I'm your host, Denny Corby, and in this episode we have a follow-up.

00:00:09.310 --> 00:00:11.445
We have a cool follow-up.

00:00:11.445 --> 00:00:43.728
So, going back to our episode with Aaron James, back at episode 264, the Future of Health and Wellness in Private Clubs, and we were just talking about really cool, unique, modern health and wellness programs that clubs are doing and just bringing in cool outside vendors, and I happen to mention IV or drip therapy, especially after a multi-day event where people may or may not be having some beverages and things.

00:00:43.728 --> 00:00:46.207
So they actually tried it.

00:00:46.207 --> 00:00:58.584
So I bring Aaron back on and his director of events, Brittany, and we just talk and they talk about their experience and how they took a risk and they tried and it turned out to be really good.

00:00:58.584 --> 00:01:01.889
So check out this episode from the Country Club of Asheville.

00:01:01.889 --> 00:01:04.143
We have Aaron James and Brittany Lucas.

00:01:12.519 --> 00:01:13.625
Let's talk about member guests.

00:01:13.625 --> 00:01:34.387
Let's talk about how this whole thing came about and how you just knocked it out of the park and then you tossed it into the last minute because of our conversation with Denny about the IV hydration and how much of a blast that was to have all the members and what that added to the event.

00:01:34.659 --> 00:01:34.900
Sure.

00:01:34.900 --> 00:01:39.971
So member guests, kato's an adventure.

00:01:39.971 --> 00:01:49.534
So historically our club kind of made it special but didn't really do a lot of extra stuff.

00:01:49.534 --> 00:02:07.930
So with my premier member guest and AJ's premier member guest, we really wanted to kind of make it super special and kind of show the membership what we can offer to them through our skills and experience.

00:02:07.930 --> 00:02:13.572
So I came up with this Viva Las Vegas idea and I just kind of ruled with it.

00:02:15.044 --> 00:02:31.288
We did a stag night where we had the guys come in and we brought the casino tables in and they all played Blackjack and Roulette and whatever else you do in a casino, and they drank and smoked cigars and they loved it.

00:02:31.288 --> 00:02:39.072
And then the next morning we had the IV hydration and little hangover kits available for them.

00:02:39.072 --> 00:02:48.802
So that was kind of, you know, our way of offering a cure for the pain that we might have.

00:02:48.802 --> 00:02:53.455
You know, I was suggested from the ice before, but anyways.

00:02:53.455 --> 00:03:22.004
And then we did, um, we kind of did a playoff of the neon, that's on the strip in Vegas, and we did a glow golf indoor cocktail party, um, where we had, you know, colored lights and glow sticks and flashing glasses and we had, um, a group called Glow golf which is out of Charlotte, come in and set up like an indoor putting experience and it lights up and everybody can kind of like play mini golf kind of thing.

00:03:22.712 --> 00:03:26.490
Um, drinks, house music, spouses were welcome for that one.

00:03:26.490 --> 00:03:33.824
So that was really a fun, a fun party and everyone kind of dressed up, you know, in their neon colors.

00:03:33.824 --> 00:03:35.355
Um, so that was cool to see.

00:03:35.355 --> 00:03:45.723
And then, um, again, we offered IV hydration the next morning, because if we're responsible for getting you drunk, we should also be responsible for getting you feeling better.

00:03:45.723 --> 00:03:52.381
The next morning was kind of where we went with that Um it's so good.

00:03:52.530 --> 00:03:55.138
Yeah, that is such a caring thing.

00:03:55.138 --> 00:03:55.881
It's, it's.

00:03:57.370 --> 00:04:03.895
Well, you know, we, we do what we can, you know, um, but then on Friday night everybody was.

00:04:03.895 --> 00:04:08.783
We suggested that they go enjoy Asheville on their own or maybe take a little R and R.

00:04:08.783 --> 00:04:13.281
So on Saturday we didn't offer them any kind of cure because we weren't responsible for that.

00:04:16.951 --> 00:04:19.038
So so that was part of your own risk.

00:04:19.038 --> 00:04:23.060
On Friday night, um, and then Saturday we did our reception.

00:04:23.060 --> 00:04:33.665
So you know, for me, you, there's no Vegas without a you know um, shotgun wedding and without Elvis doing it.

00:04:33.665 --> 00:04:43.975
So we had an Elvis impersonator who actually is ordained, and he did like impromptu vow renewals and then he did a performance later and there was a big hit.

00:04:43.975 --> 00:04:45.937
I felt like that was really a gamble.

00:04:45.937 --> 00:04:53.598
People were either going to really like, you know, sign on for that, or they were going to not, and they, it was a huge hit.

00:04:53.598 --> 00:05:00.810
I was very, um, I was very happy to see that, um, and, yeah, he performed.

00:05:00.810 --> 00:05:16.338
We had like showgirls and we did, you know, past champagne and hors d'oeuvres and food stations and it was just really a very fabulous soiree, um, so that's the gist of member guests.

00:05:18.041 --> 00:05:18.461
Damn.

00:05:18.483 --> 00:05:19.190
Yeah, it was.

00:05:19.190 --> 00:05:22.478
It was a lot but it was so worth it.

00:05:23.781 --> 00:05:35.375
No, and I I love to hear that I was just talking to a couple other profession, profession in the world, professionals, and uh, the big thing that we keep talking about recently is risk.

00:05:35.375 --> 00:05:43.024
And just so, when you said you know the Elvis was a risk, you know for you guys, you, you, you took the risk.

00:05:43.024 --> 00:05:44.084
And then what?

00:05:44.084 --> 00:05:48.329
The worst case, like worst possible scenario, what would have happened?

00:05:48.490 --> 00:05:54.435
Worst case scenario, we would have had Elvis just basically taking selfies of people instead of doing vow renewals, you know.

00:05:54.435 --> 00:05:57.738
So it really wasn't like a huge risk, but it was still.

00:05:57.738 --> 00:05:58.079
Like.

00:05:58.079 --> 00:06:09.959
You know, we set up this whole like balloon arch and had the microphone and we had a photographer come in and it was going to be a moment, but if it wasn't a moment, then they could just get their picture taken with Elvis and it was.

00:06:09.959 --> 00:06:11.783
You know, it would have worked just fine.

00:06:13.192 --> 00:06:28.562
No, that's, that's so good to hear, because I think oftentimes, and you know, people think of like the worst case, like, oh, what, what if no one does it, and then they just don't end up doing anything Right, and it's like, oh, but you know, if you just see, the best side is regardless.

00:06:28.562 --> 00:06:35.529
If it's like you, you're so right, vegas theme Elvis being there, and it's not like you just set him up and said, oh like, let's do vowel renewals.

00:06:35.529 --> 00:06:42.430
You took that little extra step, put in the little extra effort and got the balloons and the photographer, so it made you want to.

00:06:42.430 --> 00:06:46.100
It wasn't just like you know, elvis in the corner.

00:06:46.221 --> 00:06:46.482
Right.

00:06:46.732 --> 00:06:48.487
Just waiting for you, like you want your vowels.

00:06:49.690 --> 00:06:51.012
Nobody puts Elvis in a corner.

00:06:51.012 --> 00:06:51.434
Come on.

00:06:53.237 --> 00:06:54.939
Thank you, you said it, I was thinking it.

00:06:54.939 --> 00:06:55.759
Thank you, brittany.

00:06:55.759 --> 00:07:01.028
Oh, it was good that was very good.

00:07:01.108 --> 00:07:02.810
That was very good, that was very good.

00:07:02.810 --> 00:07:07.822
Did not expect you guys to come come back at me like that, wow, okay, that was aggressive.

00:07:07.822 --> 00:07:17.139
So you know, I and I just want to know from your point of view, if you could, just what.

00:07:17.139 --> 00:07:19.625
What was the response like for the IV?

00:07:19.625 --> 00:07:23.319
Like, did you tell people so I'm also interested in, like how people set things up?

00:07:23.319 --> 00:07:28.661
So did they know in the morning that was going to be there, or did they just show up and is like, oh, this is like legit.

00:07:28.661 --> 00:07:31.997
Like can you walk me through a little bit what that little process was sort of like?

00:07:32.016 --> 00:07:32.257
Sure.

00:07:32.257 --> 00:07:44.430
So I actually listened to you two doing your previous podcast and when you were talking about the IV treatment, I was like inspired.

00:07:44.430 --> 00:07:49.675
I was like, oh my God, like that is, we need to figure out if we can do that here, right?

00:07:49.675 --> 00:07:55.499
So you know, we started doing our research and we found a company that actually they're mobile and they work.

00:07:55.499 --> 00:08:10.050
You know they're a satellite IV hydration company and once they signed on to do it, we started to kind of advertise to the members that were participating in the member guest tournament.

00:08:11.011 --> 00:08:12.252
I did a lot of word of mouth.

00:08:12.252 --> 00:08:21.177
We had a couple of events leading up to member guest people that were playing in the tournament.

00:08:21.177 --> 00:08:22.718
So I would like mention them.

00:08:22.718 --> 00:08:23.779
Hey, are you playing?

00:08:23.779 --> 00:08:25.161
You know, I can't wait to see you.

00:08:25.161 --> 00:08:32.706
By the way, we have this going on, and they were just like what, that's sweet, you know like, oh, we'll be there, you know.

00:08:32.706 --> 00:08:37.091
So they the membership was very excited about it.

00:08:37.091 --> 00:08:45.937
So they knew, but I don't think that they knew exactly what, like how it was going to look, until they got there and essentially how we did.

00:08:45.937 --> 00:09:00.128
That is, we do have like a big port-a-cache outside of the entrance to our clubhouse and the IV company just came in, they popped up their own tent, they set up their chairs and they ran bags and that was perfect.

00:09:02.110 --> 00:09:18.163
And this is just like a side like, do you think members felt like, do you think it was worth it in terms of you know, it's just one of those like I think sometimes, like I just talked to random people or you know talk to a bunch of people and you know you always hear like, oh, that's all be as, it didn't work for me, but I have people who like live by it.

00:09:18.163 --> 00:09:20.725
What were the members responses like after?

00:09:20.725 --> 00:09:21.525
You know?

00:09:21.525 --> 00:09:22.245
Like, did it help?

00:09:22.245 --> 00:09:23.868
Like were they happy that they did it?

00:09:23.868 --> 00:09:26.789
Like did they feel like a little bit better to continue the like week?

00:09:26.789 --> 00:09:27.149
Like, what was the?

00:09:29.173 --> 00:09:40.149
So I'm going to let AJ take that question, because I was eyeballs deep in decor the entire weekend so I didn't get to kind of participate in the feedback aspect.

00:09:40.149 --> 00:09:41.149
But I think AJ might have spoken to some folks.

00:09:44.453 --> 00:09:45.134
Oh yeah, I would.

00:09:45.134 --> 00:09:55.985
I would go out and if there was an empty chair I'd sit in the chair and people were hung over and by the time they got their IV they were 50% better and by the time they teed off they were like this is great, let's do it again.

00:09:55.985 --> 00:10:02.796
I even had my superintendent who, you know, a superintendent's job during member guest is nonstop.

00:10:02.796 --> 00:10:04.557
He's working 18 hours a day.

00:10:04.557 --> 00:10:06.078
He sat down and got it.

00:10:06.078 --> 00:10:07.860
I mean, everybody was feeling good.

00:10:07.860 --> 00:10:10.663
The nice thing was they had hangover and they also had just hydration.

00:10:10.663 --> 00:10:18.173
We did ours, our member guest, but it read them before to July, late June, early July, and the Carolinas is hot.

00:10:18.173 --> 00:10:22.318
So we had people who were just I need some hydration and to get set up for the next step.

00:10:22.318 --> 00:10:23.139
But what do I do?

00:10:23.139 --> 00:10:29.605
And I think next year we'd probably expand it we did it all a cart, so people had to pay for it out of pocket.

00:10:29.605 --> 00:10:33.009
It wasn't part of the entry fee and we still sold out every day.

00:10:33.009 --> 00:10:41.799
Yeah, so everybody was trying to do something and everybody understood the value of it and that's really I remember guest.

00:10:41.799 --> 00:10:44.943
The average agent I remember guest was probably about 40, 45.

00:10:46.626 --> 00:10:56.897
Yes, we had some younger members who, of course, that generation understands the need for wellness and understands the need for how do I recover and get my body back into shape?

00:10:56.897 --> 00:10:58.910
And that's what they want.

00:10:58.910 --> 00:11:00.090
They want to be able to play.

00:11:00.090 --> 00:11:02.513
I mean, never guess is so competitive these days.

00:11:02.513 --> 00:11:06.013
I want to play at my best while drinking heavily.

00:11:06.013 --> 00:11:07.275
So how do we do it?

00:11:07.275 --> 00:11:10.575
Just like Vegas, just like whatever else we're trying to do.

00:11:10.575 --> 00:11:13.399
You put a bunch of young professionals in a room.

00:11:13.399 --> 00:11:18.172
They're going to want to drink and play at the best, and if they're going to get mad, so we try to put it all back together for them.

00:11:18.172 --> 00:11:21.240
Like Brittany said, the joke of the weekend was we get you drunk.

00:11:21.240 --> 00:11:23.692
We're going to make sure you put you back together.

00:11:24.169 --> 00:11:25.506
That's funny, that's so.

00:11:25.587 --> 00:11:31.977
I love that and something that was really cool about the IV treatment is that, like AJ mentioned, it was a la carte.

00:11:31.977 --> 00:11:48.888
So basically what the company did is they had like vitamin add-ons, so like you could pick a hangover cure drip or just a standard hydration dip but you could drip, but you could also add like magnesium or torene or B12 and vitamin C and like antioxidants and things like that.

00:11:48.888 --> 00:11:52.833
So people were able to really curate what they knew their body needed.

00:11:52.833 --> 00:12:18.537
Like AJ was saying, we did have so many people participating that are kind of in tune with the wellness and what their body does need, so they were able to kind of ask for okay, well, I know that I need vitamin C because look at these bags I don't know if that I am not one of those people that knows that stuff so I need vitamin C because my, I have bags under my eyes or something.

00:12:18.537 --> 00:12:23.551
I don't know if that correlates at all, but what's that, Brittany?

00:12:23.591 --> 00:12:24.592
You know you need vitamin.

00:12:24.913 --> 00:12:25.696
I need something.

00:12:25.696 --> 00:12:26.397
I'll look tired.

00:12:29.029 --> 00:12:30.955
Can I get a torene shot for these bags?

00:12:30.975 --> 00:12:34.571
Yes, so anyway.

00:12:34.571 --> 00:12:39.605
So that was a really cool kind of thing that they did for us at the Renew Asheville.

00:12:43.404 --> 00:12:47.775
It also gave us another avenue, because member guests are supposed to help build your business.

00:12:47.775 --> 00:12:58.197
It gave us another avenue and a business and a partnership that we can create down and cultivate down the road to give our members another opportunity to utilize their membership throughout the community.

00:12:58.197 --> 00:13:00.110
They're not just at the clubhouse using it.

00:13:00.110 --> 00:13:03.855
We can partner up now with IV hydration and say, okay, what are we doing in the community too?

00:13:03.855 --> 00:13:07.307
So we're becoming a community partner and that's really what.

00:13:07.307 --> 00:13:14.833
What I believe Brittany's done very well and since she's taken over she's, she's found the way to how do we involve the community in what we're doing?

00:13:14.833 --> 00:13:18.509
And it's awesome, it's awesome to see and maybe we'll get behind it too.

00:13:19.250 --> 00:13:19.551
Yeah.

00:13:20.173 --> 00:13:20.754
This is so.

00:13:20.754 --> 00:13:22.729
It's like one of those.

00:13:22.729 --> 00:13:24.995
It's everything is just coming full circle.

00:13:24.995 --> 00:13:29.817
It's like you understand the game almost of like what a club's about what is supposed to do?

00:13:29.817 --> 00:13:34.195
Well, you know, it's just so nice to hear this and so many different areas.

00:13:34.195 --> 00:13:34.937
This is so good.

00:13:34.937 --> 00:13:36.447
Happy for you.

00:13:37.630 --> 00:13:38.072
Thank you.

00:13:39.193 --> 00:13:41.326
Thank you, yeah, we were.

00:13:41.326 --> 00:13:45.996
I've been at our corporate conference all week and these are the things we were talking about.

00:13:45.996 --> 00:13:54.278
How do we involve the rest of the community, how do we build, how do we become the innovators, the people in the, in the community, that are pushing the game forward?

00:13:54.278 --> 00:13:55.429
And this is one way we're doing it.

00:13:55.429 --> 00:13:59.056
I'm lucky that I have a Brittany at my side who can say AJ, what about this?

00:13:59.056 --> 00:14:01.192
Well, I go to her and say Brittany, what about this?

00:14:01.192 --> 00:14:04.654
And there's oftentimes the best student, don't do that, what?

00:14:04.654 --> 00:14:11.812
But still, I still, every now and again there's the oh, that's a good idea, I didn't think about that, and that's that's how this idea came about.

00:14:11.812 --> 00:14:16.115
And Brittany texted me literally while she's listening to the podcast, going what do you think about this?

00:14:16.115 --> 00:14:18.167
Like, oh, I didn't even think about it, even though we talked about it.

00:14:18.167 --> 00:14:18.688
Let's do it.

00:14:18.990 --> 00:14:20.313
Yeah, we do make a really good team.

00:14:20.313 --> 00:14:26.568
There's a lot of like a lot of constructive brainstorming that we do here, Like you know.

00:14:27.774 --> 00:14:28.788
Yeah, that's a nice way to put it.

00:14:30.284 --> 00:14:34.529
It's great because there's so many different perspectives, Like even just between myself and AJ.

00:14:34.529 --> 00:14:41.011
We look at things kind of from a different angle, so we're able to cover so many bases, and that's that's really the goal.

00:14:41.011 --> 00:14:44.134
I mean, not every member is it's not a cookie cutter, you know.

00:14:44.134 --> 00:14:53.835
So we want to make sure that we're doing things that kind of stimulate everybody that's here, not just like one niche of people Niche, niche, niche.

00:14:54.527 --> 00:14:57.962
I said something really funny and I was going to, and no one said anything.

00:14:57.962 --> 00:15:01.495
But you were like, oh, I want like a shot for, like you know, bags under my eyes.

00:15:01.495 --> 00:15:03.532
I was going to say, yeah, it's called Botox.

00:15:03.532 --> 00:15:05.653
Like it's definitely not like B12s.

00:15:05.653 --> 00:15:08.532
It's like next I get a B12.

00:15:08.611 --> 00:15:09.995
It's next we get the injectables.

00:15:11.187 --> 00:15:22.817
You know what's weird this is total side note, this is definitely getting taken out but I feel like people like there's weird, like how people combine certain stuff.

00:15:22.817 --> 00:15:45.466
Like what I'm trying to say is there's a dentist in my area dentist and they focus, you know, they do all the dental work, but then they're also big on like the teeth whitening stuff, and now they're also starting to offer Botox and to me I'm just like sort of get it, but I don't know, like the dentist part is, and then Botox and like I don't know.

00:15:45.466 --> 00:15:46.705
That was just like a weird, like I-.

00:15:46.860 --> 00:15:53.528
I guess it's like I'm not gonna put all of this work and effort into making your teeth look beautiful and then you have saggy skin all around it.

00:15:53.528 --> 00:15:56.990
So let me offer you that service to tighten her up.

00:15:57.460 --> 00:16:00.811
I mean, but Botox, botulism Toxins, is doing so much now too.

00:16:00.811 --> 00:16:02.826
I mean, people are using it for migraine relief.

00:16:02.826 --> 00:16:06.565
They're doing it for and they're they're putting it straight into the forest.

00:16:06.565 --> 00:16:08.889
People are using Botulism Toxins for migraine relief.

00:16:08.889 --> 00:16:22.525
They're using it not just for to look younger, but there's there's so many different things, and the teeth are one of the are connected to the brain and the nervous system so tightly that sometimes we're leaving using the Botox to relieve some of that stress.

00:16:22.525 --> 00:16:23.765
You can actually do more work.

00:16:23.765 --> 00:16:25.647
You can actually have a better smile.

00:16:25.647 --> 00:16:31.883
You can actually do things to help relieve the pain that is going down and radiating into the teeth by using Botox.

00:16:32.899 --> 00:16:33.542
Are you serious?

00:16:34.224 --> 00:16:34.966
Look at Denny's face.

00:16:35.047 --> 00:16:35.327
Oh yeah.

00:16:36.100 --> 00:16:37.767
I mean, it's like the last time we talked.

00:16:37.767 --> 00:16:42.345
I talked about concierge medicine, we talked about injectables, we talked about all these things.

00:16:42.345 --> 00:16:43.465
Botox is one of them.

00:16:43.465 --> 00:16:44.163
Here they come.

00:16:44.900 --> 00:16:45.804
You know, it's one of those.

00:16:45.804 --> 00:16:54.067
I'm just a really sarcastic person and if someone says something like that that sounds a little crazy, I'll just roll with it and keep going.

00:16:54.067 --> 00:17:02.542
So I was waiting to see if you were going to be like I'm just kidding and I was just like, oh no, like the more you talked I was like this is serious, like he's not double talking, he, this is.

00:17:03.419 --> 00:17:06.546
I get, I get the worst migraines and I and I'm thinking about it.

00:17:07.519 --> 00:17:08.785
That's wild.

00:17:08.785 --> 00:17:09.567
Interesting.

00:17:11.200 --> 00:17:15.723
This is definitely one of the strangest episodes I've ever done, but but I like it.

00:17:15.723 --> 00:17:18.046
Hope you all enjoyed that episode.

00:17:18.046 --> 00:17:24.644
If you have not done so already, we appreciate a like review, any and all support.

00:17:24.644 --> 00:17:29.112
Until next time, catch on the flip, flip, flip.
